Communication within the ESC
The ESC makes use of several different communications channels. Although there is some overlap, each one has a slightly different aim. Here’s a look at the ways you can follow ESC news and activities.

Upcoming events and community news
Exclusive to members, a simple e-mail sent about once a month, giving listings of forthcoming events and details of how to sign up for them.
In addition, we occasionally include news of events organised outside the ESC but which may be of interest to members.

WhatsApp community
A “community”, in WhatsApp terms, is an umbrella group that covers a number of related group chats.
The ESC Alsace community has ten or so groups, such as Town Square (for general exchanges of information), Tech Help, Give, Buy and Sell and Sports and outdoors. Community members can choose which groups they join.
Contact the ESC if you’d like an invitation to join the community.

The ESC website
It’s stating the obvious, perhaps, but you are reading this on the ESC website! Most of the site is free for both member and non-members to get to know us.
It provides background to the ESC, a what’s on calendar presenting events in different forms, and a document repository for archive and reference material – this last accessible only to ESC members with a password.

Word of mouth
And that means YOU!
If you like what the ESC does, if you attend events, whether the book club, coffee mornings or Burns Night, please talk about us! To your friends, family, colleagues – anyone who might like to socialise with other English speakers. Fluency is not a must, but a good command of the language is required.
Personal recommendations count, so spread the word!
(For the curious, by the way, the illustration is from a painting by Eugen von Blaas, entitled Tratsch, “gossip”.)

What’s Up?
The ESC’s long-running newsletter, recently relaunched as a quarterly publication.
Its purpose is to spotlight past events, with short reports on a different selection of activities each issue.
What’s Up? is published in PDF format. The current edition can be read or downloaded from here. Back-issues are available to members on the Resources page.

A good way to connect directly with other members.
The ESC has both a Facebook page, ESC Alsace English Speaking Community, and a Facebook group, ESC Alsace members’ group. The latter is private, but you can request access by clicking the Join button on the group page.
