Cultural events at the ESC

Our members are offered the opportunity to visit museums, exhibitions, various neighbourhoods of Strasbourg and surroundings, and learn about arts in a friendly atmosphere. Our visits are held in English with the help of official tour guides.

Cultural outings are organised from time to time and could be held indoors and outdoors.

For all our get-togethers, it is recommended to have a good command of the English language.

Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night and fireworks

Guy Fawkes, the most famous traitor in British history, tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James I in the Gunpowder plot of 1606. The anniversary of his arrest is celebrated each year with bonfires (including an effigy of Guy on top) and fireworks.

As the old rhyme has it: “Remember, remember the fifth of November”. And keep an eye open for the announcement of the ESC’s Bonfire Night party.

Burns Night

At the end of January every year, the ESC honours the life and work of the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Guests enjoy a traditional Scottish 3-course menu including the famous McSweens’s haggis. Live musicians on stage for the ceilidh dancing together with the pipers provide musical interludes throughout the evening. A real treat!
