Join us for a circular Spring hike in the Northern Vosges just south of the German border Palatinate. We will meet in the Steinbach valley between Niedersteinbach and Obersteinbach above which stand some of the most impressive rocky outcrops and castle ruins in the Vosges.

From Niedersteinbach we will gradually climb up to ‘le Rocher des Bohémiens’ (Gypsy Rock) and then drop down to Wasigenstein Castle (known as ‘ le Rocher des Vosges.’) comprising of two 13th century edifices, ‘the old’ and ‘the new.’
From here we will make our way back down through the forest stopping at ‘Le Petit Arnsbourg’, a giant semi-troglodytic, sandstone rock separated in two by a fault and overhanging the valley above Obersteinbach.

• Meeting Point : Car Park (with glass recycling bins) on left as you come out of Niedersteinbach on D3 going towards Obersteinbach.
• Meeting time : 10.30am
• Walking time : 3 to 4 hours with max ascent/descent 300m. Approx 10km.
• Directions : From Lembach centre go straight over roundabout on D3
  for about 4 kms. Take the left fork to Niedersteinbach/Obersteinbach.
• Paths : No real difficulty. Steps up to castles.

Don’t forget walking shoes/boots, waterproofs, water and a packed lunch. Sticks recommended.
