Invitation to a talk on James Joyce
TUESDAY 17th MARCH 2020 – 8.00 pm
Place: Maison de l’Amérique latine, 7 rue de la course, Strasbourg. Entrance: free.
The talk is entitled: “James Joyce: bababadalgharaghtakamminarronn!” and the aimis to provide an introduction in French to the
main works of James Joyce (Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake) and to retrace what makes Joyce, while certainly one of the best-knownnames in world literature, perhaps also one of the least known writers. Indeed, his works are often considered difficult to read, if not impossible to understand. Excerpts from his novels will be read and commented upon in French. Humour and Ireland will be on the programme of this gathering, ideally placed on St. Patrick’s Day.
